RentSafeTO Consultation

Are you having issues with leaks, plumbing, pests or low or no heat in the apartment you are renting? The first thing you should do is to talk with your property manager and file a service request. If problems persist, contact 311 to request an investigation by the City of Toronto’s RentSafeTO team.

As a tenant you have a right to a clean and secure place to live and the RentSafeTO Apartment Building Standards Programs works to ensure that apartment building and property standards are met, and that property managers and landlords respond to service issues. Apartment buildings in Toronto with three or more storeys and 10 or more units are evaluated by the RentSafeTO team at least once every two years. To look up building evaluation scores and to learn more about responsibilities as a landlord or tenant, visit toronto.ca/RentSafeTO

To stay informed on changes to RentSafe changes, share your contact information on this page.
