A new Mayor means new opportunities for our City, and I look forward to working with Mayor-Elect Olivia Chow on building a more just and equitable Toronto. Olivia will take the declaration of office and officially assume the role of Mayor next Wednesday, July 12.
Show Your Love for Toronto
Today we opened Love Park, a beautiful new green and public space at York St and Queens Quay West which transformed an old off-ramp into the literal heart of our waterfront! It's an inspiration for this city I know we love, and the ways we show it. Here's three ways that we have coming up.
Have your Voice Heard - for Mayor and on Ontario Place!
I was glad to vote yesterday at Canoe Landing Community Recreation Centre in the Mayoral By-Election. There is just one ballot, so you can vote in any advance poll location across the city! Your vote is your voice for the city we want. I am also working to ensure community voices are heard as part of a robust and transparent public engagement process for the development application at Ontario Place.
Ward 10 opens its doors (and summer rec programs)!
After a long weekend of warm weather and a lot of compost being distributed for backyard and patio gardening, it is clear that summer is right around the corner. This means it is time to register for the City’s summer recreation programs! It's also the return of Doors Open Toronto. There are lots of great offerings for both right here in Ward 10.

It’s been feeling a lot like summer! Graduations are around the corner and we’re excited about big events of the season coming up. This Sunday, May 14 is my first Environment Day from 10:00 to 2:00 pm at David Crombie Park, 131 The Esplanade (between Frederick Street and Lower Sherbourne Street)!

Last week we took another important step forward in our work to protect the future of Ontario Place. The General Government Committee adopted my motion to defer consideration of a land transfer being demanded by the Ford government until City Council makes a decision on the development application for Ontario Place.

Spring brings new opportunities
It was a great disappointment but unfortunately no surprise that yesterday's provincial budget contained no significant support for Toronto. Our city deserves better. And we will continue to fight for it.
Moving forward together
While there are changes ahead in the Mayor's office over the next few months, our work serving our communities in Spadina–Fort York continues as determined as ever.
