Over the past year we have taken these actions together to celebrate and protect Trinity Bellwoods Park. There's more to come!
Pathways:
- secured $250,000 in city funds for urgent upgrades to a key pathway in the park
- stopped vehicle-Related turf damage issues by having this addressed with staff through ongoing reminders
- cleared and elevated Trinity Drive path to allow emergency vehicle access (so as to not have to go over the field)
- installed interim pathway signage in the fall 2024 (plus the new paintings on west path will take place this spring)
Forestry:
- ensured over 200 trees have been maintained in the park, including pruning and top soil revitalization and seeding
- ensured Urban Forestry staff are aware of the concerns regarding salt on the base of trees in the park, and are planting more salt tolerant trees going forward
Washrooms:
- secured winterized portable toilets for the past winter season, with some locations shifted to optimize truck access and mitigate damage
- marked Trinity Bellwoods as a priority location for additional portable toilets this summer
