Canoe Landing Park Dog Off-Leash Area - Have Your Say on Design Options
In June 2025, I secured approval on two permanent dog off-leash areas (DOLAs) at Canoe Landing Park to meet community needs. Your feedback from the summer survey & outreach told us what you’d like to see!
Based on your initial feedback, the City is now looking for your thoughts on the design options for the dog off-leash areas!

The City has a new, city-wide Dogs Off-Leash Areas (DOLAs) strategy to help plan, build, and maintain great dogs off-leash areas, while also focusing on responsible pet ownership and getting our community involved. Find dog off-leash areas across Toronto here. With our growing number of residents and dogs, this updated approach aims to make sure our parks work well for everyone!
This includes:
- advance planning for more dog off-leash spots
- community engagement in how DOLAs are created
- professional standards for dogs off-leash areas
- criteria for keeping dogs off leash areas well-maintained, and
- looking at how best commercial dog walkers can use them.
The development of this strategy included community engagement and looking at best practices from other cities. It was approved by Council in April 2025.
