On July 24, the federal government announced that the Island Airport expansion is not moving forward.
This is a win that belongs to every one of us. You spoke up at meetings, in surveys, with neighbours, to elected officials, across platforms and together defended our city, and our waterfront.
I've been proud to be alongside you every step. From the beginning, I have been clear that Torontonians deserve a say in our city and our waterfront. I made sure that City Hall had your back. We moved to protect our public land, pushed for transparency, and fought to prioritize our community's health and housing needs over and above expansion.
Now, with my and Mayor Chow’s motion, City Council is calling on the Provincial government to return our City lands including Little Norway Park and Toronto Island Park immediately, and restore Toronto’s voice in Island Airport decision-making.
Let’s continue building a vibrant, accessible waterfront for everyone to live, work, learn and enjoy. Join me!
