Champions for Toronto Community Awards

From the Blue Jays to AFC Toronto, the Raptors to the Sceptres, Toronto knows what it means to play as a team. Our city rallies together each season, and we’re inspired to keep that team spirit alive here in our neighbourhoods. 

Every day, local champions step up to the plate, from community organizers, small business owners to artists, volunteers, and advocates, we are all working together for a more green, just, and caring city. 

Here in Ward 10, our greatest teams and players are found in our neighbourhoods. Now it’s time to celebrate them!

Nominate a community “MVP” (individual) or “Team of the Season” (businesses or organizations) who’s making a real difference in Spadina-Fort York! 

The categories are:

  • Welcome Champion – Advocating for equity, inclusion, and meaningful social change, making everyone feel welcome. 
  • Housing Champion – Changemaker shaping our neighbourhoods to be home for everyone.
  • Transit Champion – Dedicating their time to improving how we get around with safety and better options. 
  • Public Spaces Champion – Community members working to make our public and community spaces more accessible and enjoyable for all. 
  • Climate Champion – Leading initiatives to protect our environment and promote sustainability.
  • Arts & Culture Champion – Enriching our communities through art, music, performance, or storytelling.
  • Love Local Champion – Small business owners making a lasting impact in the community.

The deadline for submission is Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 11:59PM and the Champions for Toronto Awards will be presented at an awards ceremony in March 2026 to honour those who bring our community spirit to life on and off the field.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominators Must:

  • Be a resident of Spadina-Fort York, Ward 10.
  • Not be a worker, volunteer, or board member of the organization they are nominating.
  • Not be the owner of the business they are nominating.

Nominees Must:

  • Individuals: Must reside in Spadina-Fort York and have made a voluntary contribution beyond their regular paid work within the last two years.
  • Organizations: Must be located in and serve Spadina-Fort York residents, have at least three members, and be governed by a volunteer board (not a school, hospital, or government institution).
  • Businesses: Must be independently owned, located in Spadina-Fort York, and have made a meaningful impact within the last two years (franchises are not eligible at this time).
