Toronto’s shelters are over capacity and encampments are growing. The City of Toronto has enabled over 300 people to exit homelessness every month with the Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB) program.
When the funding for the COHB program from federal and provincial governments is delayed as it was for 6 months in 2024, the backlog grows as households who could have secured housing aren’t able to, so people are stuck in shelters or sleeping outdoors.
The City of Toronto has called on the Prime Minister and Premier to commit to the Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit program to address homelessness and transition people into permanent housing. Add your voice.
