Toronto needs more affordable housing and inclusionary zoning is a key solution. By requiring new developments to include affordable units, we can create a more inclusive city where everyone has a place to call home. I am advocating for stronger inclusionary zoning polices, and your support can make a difference.
We need the federal and provincial governments to keep joining us in this work, but also by giving us better levers. Two years ago, City Council asked the provincial government to allow us to implement inclusionary zoning. This policy requires developers to include a certain percentage of affordable housing units into new developments, particularly in areas with high demand and high land values. They still haven't responded.
