Many people have reached out to us about the news that Exhibition Place lands have been included in the provincial government's Fall Economic Statement, folded into the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act (ROPA).
We are working to understand the facts of what this inclusion means. It was not shared in advance with the City of Toronto or Exhibition Place.
Exhibition Place is an important public space and City asset that welcomes millions of people each year with Canada's largest conventions, exhibitions, events and entertainment. It is an economic driver for Toronto and a well-loved site for community recreation and activity.
Exhibition Place is City property and any unilateral Provincial moves to seize it must be challenged.
