CityPlace TCHC Summer 2026 updates and social

Major improvements to TCHC buildings in CityPlace. There is more work to do.

My office has been working with residents and City staff to address ongoing concerns with accessing necessary housing supports and resources at TCHC buildings in CityPlace including 150 Dan Leckie Way, 125 Queens Wharf & 146 Fort York Boulevard.

We've heard from residents and the community members about the need for proper communication channels and more responsiveness from TCHC staff, especially in emergencies. I'm committed to ensuring your needs are heard and that solutions are in place to support a safe, vibrant and healthy neighbourhood.

Last year, my office organized a townhall with TCHC to discuss concerns tenants have had about ongoing issues in the building. Issues discussed included elevators, maintenance, communication, and safety. Since then, we have made progress on:

Elevator upgrades: Establishing an SMS and email program for elevator service updates and indicator panels installed on every floor to make use more convenient
Maintenance: Major restoration on the heating system and a full-building duct cleaning
Communication: office hours for TCHC staff to be onsite in the lobby every Tuesday morning to address your concerns
Safety: Security cameras are currently being installed on every floor

On Sunday, July 26, at 2 PM at 150 Dan Leckie, we hosted a fun summer social afternoon with free treats, activities, and TCHC staff onsite to answer questions about the progress on work in the building.

TIFF Street Access and Traffic Impacts

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is back, bringing screenings, events and Festival Street to our downtown communities. TIFF starts Thursday, September 10, and continues to Sunday, September 20.

If you’re travelling through downtown west during the festival, plan ahead and give yourself extra time. Several streets will be closed for Festival Street, with additional traffic and pedestrian impacts expected around TIFF venues throughout the festival.

The Canadian National Exhibition will run this year from August 21 to September 7! I know it is a part of so many people’s annual summer tradition - mine included. And it means people will be coming from near and far to Exhibition Place, with additional traffic, road closures, and diversions.

Toronto Caribbean Carnival is a staple of summer in our city. I have been pushing City staff to take measures to make sure residents and visitors alike can navigate the area safely and in a reliable way.
